Published Works + Advocacy

As an Author

I've had the opportunity to extend my reach beyond one-on-one interactions and workshops. My publications are both healing and reflective, offering guidance, support, and a voice to those who might feel unseen or unheard. Beyond my writings, I actively engage in advocacy work, striving to bring about systemic changes that better support foster care alumni at every level.

Bloom

Inspired by my own path to healing, "Bloom" is crafted as a deeply personal guide to help you rediscover and celebrate your inner strength. More than just a collection of pages, this journal is a faithful companion on your journey towards self-love and renewed confidence. With engaging prompts, insightful tips, and supportive information, each entry is thoughtfully designed to challenge you, fostering reflection and growth as you connect deeply with your mind and spirit.

"Bloom" harnesses the transformative power of self-reflection, gently guiding you through exploring your thoughts and emotions. It invites you to reintroduce yourself to your deepest desires, confront your biggest fears, and embrace your untapped strengths. This process facilitates a profound journey of personal empowerment and self-discovery.

I Am A Sunflower, The Sunflower Is Me

"I Am a Sunflower, The Sunflower Is Me" was born from my experiences and reflections while navigating life in foster care. Specifically written with young Black girls in mind, this book is a heartfelt affirmation of their intrinsic worth and a tool to boost their self-esteem and resilience, no matter their circumstances.

Sunflowers thrive by turning towards the sun, drawing strength from its light to grow tall and strong despite often growing in challenging environments. This book draws a parallel between these vibrant flowers and the journey of young girls finding their own light and strength. It highlights the unique qualities of a sunflower—its need for sunlight, water, and space to bloom—while inviting readers to reflect on their own unique qualities and needs that will help them grow into the best versions of themselves.

Each page is designed to validate and uplift, affirming the reader’s worthiness, uniqueness, and right to be loved and supported. "I Am a Sunflower, The Sunflower Is Me" is more than just a story; it’s a powerful tool for fostering a sense of resilience and a positive self-image, helping young girls to see themselves as capable of overcoming any obstacle, just like the sunflower.

This book is a reminder to all young girls, especially those who may feel overlooked or undervalued in foster care and beyond, that they possess all they need within themselves to rise, flourish, and shine brightly, irrespective of where they are planted.

On The Other Side Webinar Series

In my webinar, 'On the Other Side: Grieving What You Never Had,' I explore the unique and often overlooked grief that comes from the unmet needs and lost experiences of foster care.

I open up about my own journey with grief and provide tools and techniques to help you process these complex emotions. We'll cover how to acknowledge and honor your feelings of loss, and I'll offer strategies to help you move forward with resilience and hope.

This session is a safe space for you to understand and heal from the emotional scars left by what you didn’t receive in your childhood, helping you to reclaim a sense of inner peace and empowerment.

On the Other Side: Building Community After Foster Care, is a dive deep into why creating and sustaining supportive networks is crucial for former fosters like us.

I share personal insights and strategies on how to find and cultivate meaningful relationships that can serve as a new foundation for your life outside the foster care system.

We discuss how to engage with mentors, connect with peers who understand your journey, and build a network that feels like the family you choose.
